We'll Live Under the Same Sky

My dearest lover

(How are you? How have you been? Is life better now? Is everything okay? Do you miss me? I do a lot.)

When you read this letter, I know you’ll find it when I am far away. I am unsure whether I want you to smile or cry when you read this, but I’d still go with the smile one. I want you to be happy wherever you are. I hope you will be in a better place than you were back then (while I was writing it) and that you smile and smile your heart out. It’s strange, isn’t it? At the highest speed, five months went by, and we can only recall five things about each other and how we’d always smile when we think of this time as a happy memory. I will wish for you (I hardly ever do) and for you to be happy.

No matter what the world tells you or even you tell yourself, I know what you can do, and I would like it if you’d just take my word for it – you always find a way out. Whenever you feel stuck somewhere, sit back and think about what you would’ve done if I wasn’t a part of your life. Because you, without me, were a better person. My storms have affected the heart you carry.

They have shattered all the walls you had built around yourself. Believe it or not, I am your weakness. And no matter how much you like to make your weakness your strength, you couldn’t do that with me. I was more complex than you had imagined; you got yourself with someone who might be the best for you – me.

I miss how we cupped each other’s chins and kissed and found peace only in each other’s arms. We hugged and slept every day of the little time we had. I miss how you, in the sweetest of your voice, said good morning. Do you remember exactly two nights we spent listening to two songs in a loop until dusk hit the sky? We didn’t have a bucket list, but if we did, we certainly would have checked off every item. And in a split second, five months passed, and we were planning our futures.

Futures without each other. It breaks my heart to say this, but for what it was worth, I believe that we’ll move on. We’ll live under the same sky, so whenever you are scared or confused, just look up, and I’ll be there. I love you with all my heart; although shattered into a million pieces, it is capable of loving more than you had expected.

I hope you are doing well in life, and I hope you are happy.

Yours forever
